Photos become filenames. Stories become files. Useful things pile up beside things we meant to keep. THE REST is building tools to cull the excess, preserve what matters, and restore meaning to what remains.

What is THE REST?+
THE REST is a system for deciding what matters, preserving it, and restoring context around what remains. DELETE THE REST is the first active product inside that larger world.
What does DELETE THE REST do?+
DELETE is a judgment tool. It helps you compare the things you have, notice what is redundant, learn your own keep/delete instincts, and make room without pretending storage size is the only thing that matters.
Is this only for photos?+
No. Photos are the richest test surface today, but THE REST is being built for documents, video, audio, PDFs, text, archives, and the mixed bundles people actually accumulate on their devices.
What happens to my files right now?+
In the current 20-file personal test, the files you choose stay in that browser session. They are not uploaded to THE REST, and refreshing or leaving clears the sample. A future full product may offer opt-in private storage and archive features under a separate, explicit trust agreement.
What does source-conscious mean?+
We care where something came from, who made or kept it, what is known about it, what is uncertain, and what rights travel with it. Preserving a file without its source can preserve the object while losing the meaning.
Why build this now?+
Digital life produces more copies, files, thumbnails, feeds, abstractions, and generated material than any person can hold onto meaningfully. THE REST begins by culling the excess, then tries to give what remains enough context to become specific again.
Does THE REST use AI?+
AI may help compare, organize, summarize, or surface patterns, but it should not erase authorship, source, rights, uncertainty, or the human decision about what matters. The current personal 20-file calibration does not send your selected files to a cloud AI service.
